I am a mother. Most of my journey as a mom, I have carried the proverbial guilt. ‘I’m doing it wrong.’ With a side order of shame that someone is ALWAYS doing it better. And that I wasn’t PRESENT enough with my children. It’s time for me to surrender ALL of that and lay it down. It is not needed to believe that any more. I have committed to moving my body every day. It could be a strength workout, kickboxing, yoga, walking, hiking, and/or simply gentle stretching. In the journey of becoming a servant leader, I have vowed to nourish my body so that I can 'go the distance' and feel VIBRANT. This morning at 6:30am I did an intentional weight resistance HIIT workout with the Les Mills on Demand app. I went at my pace and did it by candlelight so I could BE more connected with my body. The one sharing that a shot had been fired in the school. The call that reminded us that we live in a world where children, teachers, administrators are not safe from violence. As a result of that shot fired, a 15 year old died. Someone’s son. 🥲 Rather than leave it to someone else, wouldn’t you want to help build a world that loves more and edges out fear and violence? Our dog Harry dug through a bunny litter’s nest, and we found these two… As we were unsure if the mama would come back, we took in the current responsibility to house and feed them. We are learning by trial and error and I’m noticing my anxiety from worry that they will die on our watch. I’m also recognizing a process (one that my teenagers have gone through, my clients and our projects in Kenya). We take care to provide a safe space for growth and then with intuitive knowing, we let go and launch our teenagers, or clients or bunnies into the world practicing the trust that we did our job as best we could and to hold on any longer would be detrimental to their health. Empowerment lives here - in that liminal space between hand holding and launching. I live in that liminal space in support of you. Yes, you. The one that wants to launch but also wants some encouragement, help with a plan and reminder of her awesomeness so that craziest dream yet will begin to take form. My son, Will, popped in to say hi. He just completed his first week in college. He walked in full of vibrant, healthy energy. My mama tears flowed because we have walked some really tough seasons together. To see him excited and empowered was simply inspirational to behold. I am so proud of each of my three sons. As you probably know by now, I LOVE Kenya and her people. The country and her people have wildly enhanced my (and my husband, Paul) life in MANY ways. Two years ago, my friend Jossy invited me to partner with her in starting a school, The Joslin School in Kakamega, Kenya. We have 83 students and are now learning new ways to up-level our collaborative structures to create an empowered environment. Two years ago (apparently 2022 was a BIG transformation year!), my friend Pasilita Anyanga, shared about her twin grandsons (pictured below) and her deep concern about them and their education. The boys were living in a ‘slum’ in Nairobi and she deeply desired for them to have greater opportunities to give them the best chances to thrive. Since then, we have found ways to support their education at a boarding school in Kakamega county. For those that are curious - boarding schools are a very common structure to support Kenyan learners in their education and has shown to have successful educational experiences. That all said, I dedicate one day a month of chiropractic wellness care in exchange for a donation (you choose the amount). Just a cool story about divine connections. Erika - the one with the teal Joslin school t-shirt, and I met last summer at Kickhouse in York, PA. I loved her energy so we struck up a conversation. When I asked her what she was up to - she told me she was going into the Peace Corps…in Kenya. I laughed at the synchronicity. Last week, at the Joslin school (oh and she has been stationed merely an hours drive from the school), we met and collaborated. This young woman is incredible and has a heart to help our mission as she is growing in her own. Collaborating in the most surprising ways!

‘If they can do it, I believe I can too.’ - the unshakeable belief from my friend, Phelisters. Yes, we are riding on the back of a boda boda (aka motorbike). Yes, we are not wearing helmets and yes, there are three of us on it. I think I have seen up to five people on one motorbike in Kenya. One time I even saw a person riding on a couch that had been stacked on the back.😅 I would never have this experience in the US, and yet in Kenya, it feels aligned. And congratulations, Phelisters! ❤️‍🔥 You believed and trusted in the right timing and you got the job!

I met Maurice the first time I went to the Joslin School in July 2022. He was three then. Quiet. Wouldn’t make eye contact. Today, he grabbed my hand and smiled this make-my-heart-happy smile at me. He is animated and radiates joy. I think something magical is happening at our school…🌍😍 Thank you to the team at the Joslin School for caring and raising the standards of what education and caring looks like!

15 year old Elizabeth has a dream. She deeply desires to be a journalist. My friend, Phelisters Oduor noticed her when she was visiting families that were in need of assistance in her community of Mombasa, Kenya. Last year, Phelisters identified Elizabeth as a young woman on a mission who was fiercely determined to make a difference with her life - if given an opportunity. Elizabeth is also sight impaired and lives in a very stressful home situation. But, it has not caused her to give up. Instead, simply to dig deeper and keep showing up for her life. Phelisters shared her story with me and I was able to connect with funding to assist Elizabeth in a school that supported her unique situation for one year. The next school term is starting on May 2, and I feel called to invite anyone that feels connected to this story to share a contribution in her future. To honor ALL the young women, who face unimaginable hardships and still choose to GET BACK UP. To know that someone is thinking of her with love, and a belief in her unlimited potential. To dedicate a small fraction of your abundance to flow into her future and beyond. The ripple effect. Her current room, board, and essentials amounts to $460 USD for this term and $450 for the next term that begins in August (schools in Kenya run from January - October). I met this fierce and loving woman over four years ago. She was speaking at York’s Women’s Business Center Organization. I went up to her and we quickly connected. Months after we met George Floyd died and I recognized my many unconscious ignorances that I carried within. This woman offered me abundant grace as we dialogued together in (what felt to me) uncomfortable conversations. Something I was wildly awkward at. She taught me so much, in that moment and ever since. But even more incredible is that she welcomed me into her heart. And I have been so honored to call her my friend. Fierceness and Grace.
